This weekend I traveled to Goat Island with the International Students Club for some beach and snorkeling!! Woke up bright and early and drove out to the snorkel hire and we were on our way. This was my first time so very exciting! We even got to wear wet suits since it’s the beginning of Fall here and the water is starting to get a little colder. Unfortunately didn’t get any pictures under the water but it was definitely one of the coolest things I’ve done so far! I saw an octopus, jellyfish, a bunch of star fish and many schools of all different kinds of fish. Oh and apparently a sting ray swam right underneath me but by the time I looked down it was gone, which I guess happens a lot with big groups of people. There were about 30 of us in total and my van with 8, we split off from the rest after lunch and drove down the Tawharanui Peninsula to the Marine Reserve. We made a few stops along the drive but my favorite had to be Anchor Bay where there was a little cove and we found some huge crabs and a bunch of star fish! There were also a few people surfing which is always fun to watch and we climbed up a big cliff, with a spectacular view. Ended the day with a bit to eat and then back to Auckland!! Went with a few friends and came back with many more! Great day on the water!!
