Monday, normally waking up for class at 6am, we did something a bit more adventurous. Bungy jumping!! This was very spontaneous, but I’m so glad we fit it into the trip. We drove out to the Kawarau Bridge Bungy after breakfast and did the 43 meter bungy off of the original bungy in the world. It was pretty terrifying but so much fun!! Afterwards, we took of and made a stop at Lake Wakatipu with a gorgeous view of the Remarkables (mountain range) before making the drive to the trailhead of the Routeburn Track making a few stops along the way including the historic railway shed in Glenorchy. A bit further and we arrived, loading our packs for the next 3 days on the track. At around 5:30pm we started the Routeburn Track in Mount Aspiring National Park, one of the 9 Great Walks of New Zealand. We then arrived at the Routeburn Flats campsite completing 7km’s, set up camp, ate some good food, layered up for the cold night ahead and called it a night.
