Tuesday, we woke up to one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen. Our toes may have been frozen, but the beauty just about masked the pain. This was just the first of the many sights that awed us that day. Starting on the trail again at around 9am, we headed up and tramped on for a few hours before our first stop. We ended up stopping at all of the 5 huts along the track for a snack or just a quick rest. The views consisted of waterfalls, valleys, snow-capped mountains and lakes; half way through we ascended into Fiordland National Park. In total we did around 33km’s in about 8 hours. Wednesday we’ll finish the track, but for the night we stayed at the Lake Howden Hut. Met some pretty cool people at dinner and hit the bunks early for a well needed sleep!
