When in Wellington…

Our next adventure was Wellington! We boarded the plane Tuesday night and went out exploring the city until Friday morning. 2 days was a lot to pack everything in, but we managed to do it!! First we walked on the waterfront enjoying some delicious donuts heading to the Te Papa Museum. My favorite display ended up being the Color, which was so interesting as everything there and in most public places are translated into Maori. Coming out of the museum there was a ceremony taking place for Anzac Day which is the National day of remembrance for people of New Zealand and Australia that served and died in all wars. This took place in one of the Marae’s, a sacred Maori meeting space, in the museum where a class of school children were singing and dancing.

Later on we rode in the historic cable car up to the botanic gardens a little outside the city.

Taking the cable car back into the city, we then stopped for lunch at a little dumpling shop where I tried my first bubble tea and had some amazing dumplings and noodles! The next day we hiked up Mount Victoria to catch the sunset and also saw a spontaneous concert booking: NORAH JONES!! 10/10 would recommend 🙂
