Roadtrip to Rotorua

This weekend we headed south to a town called Rotorua! We pilled into the mini van and set off. We actually hit a bunch of sites this trip in a short amount of time which was awesome. First we walked around the town a bit enjoying the fall weather (yes it is fall here!) and checked out Lake Rotorua. Gorgeous! Made it over to the Redwoods and went on a short hike through the woods, the trees are huge! The town itself has a bunch of geothermal activity so we got to so we ended up walking by a ton of hot pools including one a little outside of Rotorua called Kerosene Creek which we actually got to swim in! Sunday we drove back and on the way stopped first at Blue Springs. Blue Spring is a natural taonga which is an object or natural resource that is highly valued in Maori culture. The water was so clear, so blue and we also saw a black swan swimming around. We then stopped in Tauranga where Mount Maunganui sits overlooking the Bay of Plenty. We hiked up the mountain with gorgeous 360 views around the coast. We also got some amazing ice cream when returning to the bottom and walked on the beach until it was time to drive home. The last was just a farm on the side of the road where we decided to catch the last rays of the day which was a pretty great end if I do say so myself.
