This week my friend from school back home came to visit!! She is currently studying in Wollongong, Australia so figured she’d hop on over for a little break! On our adventures in Auckland we actually managed to pack a lot into the short time she was here. First we hit Mission Bay which is a fun little spot to just enjoy the sun on these fall days. Next we went to One Tree Hill where there were so many sheep I never knew were in Auckland! That was fun and had a little picnic at the top and then made the hike to the top of Mt. Eden for the sunset which was fantastic and we actually met some people from the states. The next day we traveled to Piha Beach which would have been my third time visiting, but every time with different people making for wonderful new adventures! This time we hiked all around the beach including Lion Rock (the picture of the large rock) and found a cool wood carving at the top. Our last stops were the French Market in Parnell (not pictured because our food was in our stomachs in seconds) and the Wintergarden in the domain. There are so many beautiful flowers here and we even found a fern sanctuary that I hadn’t seen the first time going. Also, the large green tree with what look like bananas hanging from it are real live bananas!!
Overall, great food, great times and even better company ~especially so far into my abroad experience, it was so nice to see a friendly face from back home!
