First solo trip ever!! Needed a little break in between finals so decided to head out to Coromandel Forest Park in the Kauaeranga Valley to hike up to the Pinnacles, about a 2 hour drive from Auckland! The total hike was 14km which I ended up finishing in around 5 hours. I took the Webb Creek Track trail which brought me up to the Pinnacles Hut and then past that: to the Pinnacles.
You can see the lovely view from the top in my video. Only me and the birds all day long! I only saw four or five other people on the whole trail and at the top it was completely fog which was actually pretty cool and at least a unique experience. The photo of me jumping was me trying out my selfie timer on my phone! What a blast!!
The video of me cleaning my feet I thought I should put in because that’s what they make you do when you enter and exit the forests around here due to kauri dieback disease which can be tracked in by the dirt on your shoes and has been killing the kauri trees that live in New Zealand.
All in all it was completely worth the hike up and so peaceful to be alone in my thoughts and away from exams. Then the sunset and cows at the bottom really made my day with a beautiful drive home!!
Thank You for the nice photos Amber, love you
